Concert tickets

Religiously as a younger man circa the late 1960's I subscribed to The Village Voice and read it faithfully each Thursday when I received it in the mail. The reviews of books, plays, recordings, and/or concerts were, many times, enlightening. But the adverts for musical happenings were truly a treasure. Bitter End, many jazz clubs, and especially the ads for Fillmore East shows. Awaiting many times to see how much money I would be sending in via a money order to the Second Avenue box office, and eagerly anticipating the return SASE with the tickets.

Today, 2010, it is quite different. Promoters, computers and self printed tickets, with full page ads in local papers. But more importantly the price of a ticket, let alone buying two. Now, many "artists" are asking for a premium membership to their "fan club" to obtain the "password" needed to "get the best seats".
